'Bout the only way a 1911 could be improved upon in my view.
No, it's not for sale...
Boat GuyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6340335897594941637.post-82630068358921249902011-03-08T13:19:37.433+00:002011-03-08T13:19:37.433+00:00"... the 1911 that's right for me" -..."... the 1911 that's right for me" -- what you are suggesting is that there is one configuration of 1911 that will satisfy all your needs. But, alas, this is not possible.
There's concealed carry and the rounded front sight will be great for that.
But what about paper punching at 50 yards -- that needs those funny-looking but oh-so-helpful target grips.
And what about a rail and red dot for the first-timer's introduction to aiming systems? Gotta help the newbies into the sport, you know.
Now I'll agree that 9 mm ammo falls short of the macho-man image, so how about a 1911 in 10 mm -- I saw one in use here recently and mentally added one to my "gotta have" list.
Blued steel is a joy to behold but, well, there are days when shiny stainless holds a certain fascination to say nothing of jet black paint. (Not sure about those cammo jobs, however.)
Then, of course, there's always Bar-sto versus Kart to be considered.

Think of the the Mystery Models you link. Will *one* of them suffice for all time?
Of course not!
We need different size grips from time to time.
Dressed in black can be nice but shiny metal is a nice distraction, too.
And don't get me started on barrels and calibers.
"Barrels and calibers, Oh My!"Ed Skinnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09332424242231481277noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6340335897594941637.post-59969018003348522492011-03-07T18:47:06.472+00:002011-03-07T18:47:06.472+00:00The Strider Knife boys have some very nice no-slip...The Strider Knife boys have some very nice no-slip grips.
