And yet I could make your argument about the gun not firing unless the trigger was pulled. I would at least have creep in the trigger before it goes off. There is no creep in the Glock's trigger. It just goes off. And that's the problem. I'd rather cock my 659 and carry it that way than jack a round into a Glock and carry it.John Roberts 👀https://www.blogger.com/profile/01713751168258439316noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6340335897594941637.post-29091638035340753442020-04-01T09:37:26.553+01:002020-04-01T09:37:26.553+01:00Hi, I appreciate every bit of your efforts to let ...Hi, I appreciate every bit of your efforts to let us know about Hunting . For example, would it have happened with a Beretta? No. How about a Sig P226? Again, no.

These guns have a certain amount of healthy creep built into them. That is, when cocked, the trigger has to travel a certain amount before it engages and trips, firing the gun. That creep is not built into the Glock, which makes it a fine target pistol, but a dangerous service auto.

Glock advocates say as long as the trigger isn't touched, the gun is perfectly safe; however, the same thing can be said of a cocked hammer-fired auto or, in fact, a cocked revolver. Yet few, if any, would advocate going into a dangerous situation with either.

And even so, this ugly, boxy pistol is extremely reliable and exceptionally accurate, so I understand why people would like it. But I would trade them in in a heartbeat for a hammer-fired auto.

Glocks are dangerous because some cops just can't keep their fingers off the trigger.
John Roberts 👀https://www.blogger.com/profile/01713751168258439316noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6340335897594941637.post-767415189259570472017-10-16T08:51:48.729+01:002017-10-16T08:51:48.729+01:00Look terrible. No! But it would be safer than carrying a Glock with a round in the chamber, which is how many people are carrying the bloody things. Why? Because my S&W 659 has enough take-up in the trigger that would have prevented it from discharging had it been placed in the same faulty holster. The Glock has very little take up and will blow your ass off if anything hits the trigger. My 659 won't. Yet even on my best day I wouldn't jack a round into my 659, or a Beretta M92, or a Sig 226, then carry it around in a holster all day without any type of a meaningful safety, and I'm amazed at how many knowledgeable gun trainers defend the carrying of the Glock with a round up the snoot.

To each his own, but I have to say I oppose cops carrying the Glocks because it takes too long to jack a round into the chamber and in 30% of the force, the cop can't keep his/her finger of the trigger, so having virtually no slack is a dangerous part of the gun's design. That's why I think the Glocks were a couple of steps in the wrong direction.

John Roberts 👀https://www.blogger.com/profile/01713751168258439316noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6340335897594941637.post-30803823953801760702016-12-13T21:51:49.553+00:002016-12-13T21:51:49.553+00:00Carrying your firearm, by definition is using it. ...Carrying your firearm, by definition is using it. Loaded chamber indicator(which by the way Glock added to the Gen4). One ass told me the lack of mag disconnect is because it is a "combat" weapon. Where? 7 countries passed on the Glock as a military issue sidearm and went to the Sig 226-228. Why? Oh, so did the FBI,Secret Service,NCIS etc. Hmmm. What do they know? Now please pay attention! The Glock is one of the best or possibly THE best pistol made on the planet. Surprised? Get the truth and stop praising a product simply because you own one. You really have not considered all the possibilities before putting your foot in your mouth. Increase your knowledge. A gun on safe should always be treated as though it isn't just as a gun should be treated as though it is loaded regardless of whether it is or not. Can you be 100% certain that your manual/grip safety is functioning properly 100% of the time? Pull the trigger on a "safed" pistol, and there's still a chance, albeit a small one, that the gun could fire. The real safety is between your ears.

Now that that's out of the way, this was a negligent discharge plain and simple. It's not the gun's fault. It's not even the fault of the piss poor excuse for a holster. The blame resides with the owner of the weapon.... period. Does it suck that he shot himself? Certainly. Do I feel sorry for him? Not in the least.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6340335897594941637.post-49520287764161713592012-09-16T10:14:43.863+01:002012-09-16T10:14:43.863+01:00Imagine that the trigger was pulled the Glock went...Imagine that the trigger was pulled the Glock went bang !
Look at that ratty holster the guy was using . Unless you alter your grip to holster your gun then you are already engaging the grip safety just by maintaining a proper grip. And considering i've only seen that with new shooters with little to no training. it is not the gun's design that is the problem in this instance. It was the user not maintaining his equipment. From the looks of the picture, the bend in the holster that entered the trigger guard was not new and did not just happen when the gun went off. Because if it was the first time it ever happened then the leather would have bounced back into its normal position instead of being compressed as the picture indicates. Therefore, the user had to have known about the deformity previously. And with carrying any firearm (whichever type is your preference) I think everyone would agree it is a huge responsibility. Neglecting any aspect of the gun, holster, maintenance, training, etc. is the responsibility of the person not the gun or design. Every gun design has its pros and cons. Just like people say guns kill people. That's another bs statement, because every gun has to have a shooter behind the gun to make it go bang. Whether it is loading/clearing it, not knowing where your muzzle is pointed, poor maintenance, poor training practices etc. Its not the guns fault it goes bang. The circumstances behind when the gun goes bang is soley the responsibility of shooter behind the gun.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6340335897594941637.post-80847266717030608542012-05-05T18:30:01.854+01:002012-05-05T18:30:01.854+01:00there is a reason there are safeties on weapons, t...there is a reason there are safeties on weapons, the general public is fucking stupid. i carried a M9 and never had a single issue, my friend on the other had almost blew his leg off with his glock 21.
the glock is a great weapon for what it is but not one i would carry. rather take my chances with a jam on the pos beretta that i was issued over a ADAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6340335897594941637.post-7718651601552947082012-02-26T02:18:19.062+00:002012-02-26T02:18:19.062+00:00That is one of the worst holsters I have ever seen...That is one of the worst holsters I have ever seen.
