RULES OF LEADERSHIP

A reader has a son who is an NCO in 1ST Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment wanted to share something he wrote before the son attended Ranger School, some years ago.

Of the Rangers, their incredible accomplishments and legacy, and the brutal training they go through to become who they are, I have this to say:

"RESPECT"

- S.L.

"Be strong because anything worth achieving is challenging. Keep focused on the prize because it can be your pathway to greater things. Maintain your honor in everything you do, for it is the polish that makes your achievements shine brighter. Love your family and friends harder, for if all else falls around you, they will still be here for you. Fight and work within the moment for this is what your training is all about, and then afterwords you can view the progress toward your goals.

The greatest leaders in history inspired others to achieve great things. Great leaders are confident, not cocky. They are involved and concerned with every aspect of their responsibility, but allow others to handle their jobs. Great leaders are concerned for those that depend upon them, looking out for their greater good and success. Leaders teach so others may follow in their footsteps. Real leaders lead from the front, for it is the only way followers can move forward. Finally, great leaders are humble, giving credit to those they lead when objectives are achieved, but taking the burden of responsibility for when they are not."

Along with his family, Team STORMBRINGER is very proud of this young man and his work & we thank him and his comrades for their service.

OUTLAW PLATOON PART III

The Outlaw Platoon III Full Feature will debut on August 21st. This trailer marks the conclusion of the three-part true life series about about a platoon of infantrymen who had to figure out a way to survive amongst some of the Taliban's strongest forces - S.L.

In 2006 Lt. Sean Parnell and the men under his leadership, known as the Outlaw Platoon, deployed to one of the most dangerous areas of Afghanistan, less than 10 miles from the Pakistani border. Their mission was to disrupt and destroy this network at all costs – to seek out enemy positions and thwart the movement of insurgent forces into and out of the safe haven of Pakistan. After a year in some of the most intense combat imaginable in a 360-degree battlefield, the only thing Sean Parnell and his men wanted to do was survive.

DEFINITION OF A VETERAN

A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America' for an amount of 'up to and including my life'. That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
- John Stuart Mill, English economist & philosopher (1806 - 1873)

I am not a hero, but I served in the company of heroes.

WWII LUFTWAFFE BEHEMOTH FOUND OFF SARDINIA

Deployed between 1942 and 1944, the plane, known as Messerschmitt 323 "Giant," was the largest land-based transport aircraft used in World War II.

The wreck of this huge German aircraft has been found off the coast of Sardinia nearly 70 years after it was shot down by a British fighter in the Second World War, a team of Italian researchers have announced.

With a 181-foot wingspan and six engines, this giant of the skies — it was 33 feet tall and 92 feet long — could carry a load of up to 12 tons, or 120 fully-equipped men into battle.

The cargo was loaded through double doors that formed the curved nose of the plane.

BLOGGERS DILEMMA

I guess I hit 'Publish' too soon yesterday - a bunch of you did the research I didn't have time for and called out a few discrepancies with the bit on barcodes. "Good Onya,' like we say Down Under - S.L.

Overall reaction was postive, upbeat & objective - can't ask for any better criticism. A reader 'CJ' did a little googling and there seems to be a bit of controversy on the subject. - you might want to read this for some more bar code info.

This from Alex Down Under in the Lucky Country: Read your blog - interesting article, but just picking up a few items around me it seems barcodes are different in different countries? I'm in Australia, and none of my barcodes matched those numbers. Are they all lying?

Sheila - also Down Under - sends: GS1 is a multinational firm which assigns and registers bar codes.

The fact of the matter is I get up before dawn - because dawn's when the French & Indians attack - and I get home late after a long day of keeping Corporate America secure from Evil. Then it's family time & some adult beverages with dinner - not much bandwidth left at the end of the day.

What we had yesterday is what happens when I post something sent in blind, without vetting it. As an intell guy, I should know better. Thanks for doing my homework for me, Team - even if I'm a day late & a dollar short. Now I know who to go to next time.

By the way everybody seems to enjoy The Birds so they're staying.

HOW TO READ BAR CODES

Some important information everyone must know - S.L.

ALWAYS READ THE LABELS ON THE FOODS YOU BUY--NO MATTER WHAT THE FRONT OF THE BOX OR PACKAGE SAYS, TURN IT OVER AND READ THE BACK CAREFULLY!

With all the food and pet products now coming from China, it is best to make sure you read label at the supermarket and especially when buying food products. Many products no longer show where they were made, only give where the distributor is located. The whole world is concerned about China-made "black-hearted goods".

Can you differentiate which one is made in Taiwan or China ? The world is also concerned about GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) foods; steroid fed animals (ex: 45 days old broiler chicken).

It is important to read the bar code to track its origin.

If the first 3 digits of the bar code are 690, 691 or 692, the product is MADE IN CHINA.

471 is Made in Taiwan.

If the first 3 digits of the bar code are 00-09 then it's made or sourced in the USA.

This is our right to know, but the government and related departments never educate the public, therefore we have to RESCUE ourselves. Nowadays, Chinese businessmen know that consumers do not prefer products "MADE IN CHINA", so they don't show from which country it is made. However, you may now refer to the barcode:

If the first 3 digits are:

690, 691, 692 ... then it is MADE IN CHINA

890 ............. MADE IN INDIA

00 - 09 ........ USA and CANADA

30 - 37 ........ FRANCE

40 - 44 ........ GERMANY

471 ............ is Made in TAIWAN (see photo)

45 or 49 ....... JAPAN

489 ............ HONG KONG

50 ............. UK

57 ............. DENMARK

64 ............. FINLAND

76 ............. SWITZERLAND and LIENCHTENSTIEN

628 ............ SAUDI ARABIA

629 ............ UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

74 - 745 ....... CENTRAL AMERICA

480 ............ PHILIPPINES.
