Consider the following:
Doctors:
(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
(C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.
Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services.
****************************************************************
Now think about this:
Guns:
(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S.
is 80,000,000.
(Yes, that's 80 million)
(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is
.000188.
Statistics courtesy of FBI
****************************************************************
So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
Remember: "Guns don't Kill People, Doctors Kill People."
FACT:
NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN,
BUT
ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.
****************************************************************
Please alert your friends to this alarming threat.
We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!
****************************************************************
Out of concern for the public at large, the statistics on lawyers are withheld for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention!
I suppose the difference is that guns are primarily intended to damage things while doctors are primarily intended to repair things. Clearly we need more effective guns and less effective doctors.
ReplyDeleteNot only that, but if there was a background check and a mandatory waiting period (say a week) before seeing a doctor, it would dramatically reduce health care costs.
During a doctors' strike in Israel a couple of decades ago, the death rate actually went down.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, as 48 states, one-by-one, introduced concealed carry of firearms licences for the law-abiding, the violent crime rate in each of those states dropped, one-by-one.
Since Washington DC was forced by The Supreme Court to allow home-defense firearms, the violent crime rate has begin to fall, finally.
Yet, in each and every country that envoked more stringent gun control laws, Great Britain, Australia, Jamaica, Canada, the violent gun crime rate soared.
Conclusion? You don't know if your doctor will save you or kill you. In concealed-carry states, a criminal doesn't know if his victim will hand over her purse or kill you. He'll move on to easier, less threatening targets .
Frankly, in my opinion, carrying a concealed handgun increases my odds of survival more than visiting my family doctor.
I own a firearm but I don't feel threatened when the gun control debate arises. There are enough facts out there concerning the "right" of a U.S. Citizen to own a waepon to defend themselves. I.e., there is no need to create ficticious numbers and facts that thus far I see as unsubstantiated.
ReplyDeleteThat said, cite your sources, or you just look foolish. Unless, that is, they aren't substantiated. At which point you are foolish and quite possibly a propogandist.
Let's put integrity before our inspirational stories... They will mean more. If we don't, what are we really fighting for?
