This is what I know about the retired General chosen to lead TSA - the federal agency charged with keeping terrorists and bombs off airplanes: Major General (Retired) Harding retired from the military in 2001 after 33 years of service; he most recently served as director for operations at the Defense Intelligence Agency, where he oversaw security for more than 200 U.S. embassies and government offices around the world. In 2003, he founded a defense and intelligence contracting firm, which he sold in 2009. General Harding is a member of a closed-list HUMINT/CI group; it will be interesting to see what the new appointee can change in this horrific organization . . . I'll let you know if anything insightful pops up - S.L.
OBAMA PICKS FORMER ARMY INTEL OFFICER TO LEAD TSA
AP WASHINGTON - An Obama administration official says the president plans to nominate a former top Army intelligence official to lead the Transportation Security Administration.
The administration official says President Barack Obama has chosen retired General Robert Harding to lead the federal agency charged with keeping terrorists and bombs off airplanes.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the announcement is not yet public. Harding's intelligence background is significant because the administration has stepped up its counter-terrorism efforts since the attempted airplane bombing on Christmas Day.
Obama's original pick for the TSA job withdrew his name from consideration when it became clear he would face a tough confirmation battle in the Senate.
Hmmm.....I've never heard of this guy but he comes out of the gate looking OK. Otherwise, is he the best qualified? Perhaps, and I suspect an intel guy would be a good choice. Also, he's the right color, which seems to be a big discriminator for this president. General Harding may be the best qualified but I wonder if he would be if he were white? I look at Attorney General Holder and while being willing to carry the president's piss bucket agenda, he's also a complete loon. Was he the best qualified, or just the right color?....jd
ReplyDeleteBob Harding is qualified - no matter his skin color. I worked for him at DIA - I am white - and he promoted me, ahead of my peers not because of my skin color, but because of performance. Please - do not bring up race where there is no race issue.
ReplyDeleteOh I think race is an issue. I think an objective thinker can see it sprinkled, even doused into many of his decisions. Americans have had enough of being made to feel racist if we employ reason into our judgement.

ReplyDeleteBeyond Disgusting - But sadly, not surprising from this "Administration".
Well, I guess he can qualify to be Czar of something.
Given the brave Vets who wrestle with combat-induced trauma rehabilitation .... and Harding claiming "sleep apnea" as his qualification to participate in a 2008, $100 million contract with "set-aside" stipulations for service-injured Vets.
Then the more recent investigation concerning over-billing by Harding Associates for interrogation services rendered. (and his "gee..I guess I should also watch my back office procedures..." explanation). Gee....'ya think?
Nice!
