Given a choice, I would prefer the Mafia over the drug cartels. Yes, both are evil; evil is as evil does. But the Mafia has more restraint and has always been "pro-America" on international levels. We can check out their participation in WWII on the docks and during the Italian campaigns. The drug cartels of South and Central America are feral to the max. Violence for its own sake and willingness to align with anti-American interests.
I guess one could say that the Mob is dollar-driven. Certainly much of what they do hurts our country but they do not want America to fail, won't kill the goose that lays the golden eggs, so to speak.
The drug cartels, on the other hand, equate thusly: want to see America fail? OK, sign us up. Hence the affiliation with terrorist groups.
I live down near the border in NM and I carry cocked & locked. Simple as that.
