Happy Canada Day!
How come we celebrate Cinco de Mayo but not Canada Day?
We should have Canada Cocktail happy hour AND the day off!
Let's fly the Maple Leaf and sing Oh Canada in French!
Canada Day (French: Fête du Canada), formerly Dominion Day (French: Le Jour de la Confédération), is Canada's national day, a federal statutory holiday celebrating the anniversary of the July 1, 1867, enactment of the British North America Act (today called the Constitution Act, 1867), which united two British colonies and a province of the British Empire into a single country called Canada.
Every year on this day, Canada Day observances take place throughout Canada as well as internationally . . .
. . . which means of course I'm heading out for a slab of LaBatts or maybe some Molson . . .

. . . only thing I want to know now is how come none of the Canadian members of Team STORMBRINGER notified me of this auspicious occasion? How come I had to learn this from a Californian refugee living down in Florida . . . I'm only related to half the country up there after all . . .

ReplyDeleteIt's my upbringing....growing up in California teaches an eager young Californian the most important things first...they teach us young and they teach us right....how to PARTY.
Party 101:
And what do you think you might need as a prereqauisite to have a party?
A REASON!
So my finely tuned California senses are tirelessly searching the universe for just such occasions.
Canada Day is today's occasion!
Party on Wayne! Party on Garth!
Duh!!!!
Forget about celebrating the french part. Quebec and the separatist members of parliament from there are no boon to Canada. They promote the separation of our country in our House of Commons. If anyone in our government had any balls they would arrest them and charge them with treason. Anyone that thinks French is that great go to France and fill your boots. Do not encourage them here in Canada.
ReplyDeleteOne, it is part of the Canadian condition that no one pays attention to us, so why would we bother? Two, shorter lines at the beer tent, I mean we'll share the continent with our southern cousins but real beer? You have of course heard the old Canadian joke.
ReplyDeleteQ. Why is American beer like making love in a canoe?
A. Both are f#*^ing near water!
Cheers, and Happy Independence Day!!
