In the dirt bike world we had a saying..."An one pound of unspring weight is worth five pounds of sprung weight." Meaning: You can increase performance more when you reduce weight below the suspension springs than anywhere else.
My uncle used to say something this back when I was young. I think he was talking about his time in Italy, and had something to do with killing the enemy arty spotters before they dump all over you.

It means "Put ice on the beer now instead of waiting till you're ready to start drinking...it'll be colder".
