PATRIOT DAY
September 11th has come to be known as Patriot Day . . . this is good and quite appropriate . . . this year's anniversary of the most devastating attack on the United States is marked by book burnings, religious fervor and the concept of a mosque to be erected on Ground Zero . . . my thoughts on where we're at, where we've come from and where this is all leading to . . . to be posted during the course of the day . . . in the meantime I'd like to refer readers to the incredible series posted this time last year, my friend Thane's experience in the Twin Towers on September 11th, 2001:
TWIN TOWERS 9-11: A FIRST HAND ACCOUNT
Thane and I served together in the 82d Airborne Division, then later on the same team in Okinawa; 1st Bn, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne). I lost touch with Thane after he got out. Then years later, one night in Stuttgart, an email from Thane popped up on the us.army.gov service, and this is the story he shared with me. - S.L.
.
thank You Sean, it is a day indeed with hearts filled with tears.
