Who'd a thunk it?
Britain's violent crime record is worse than any other country in the European union, it has been revealed.
Official crime figures show the UK also has a worse rate for all types of violence than the U.S. and even South Africa - widelyconsidered one of the world's most dangerous countries.
The figures, compiled from reports released by the European Commission and United Nations, also show:
- UK has the second highest overall crime rate in the EU.
- UK has a higher homicide rate than most of our western European neighbours, including France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
- UK has the fifth highest robbery rate in the EU.
- UK has the fourth highest burglary rate and the highest absolute number of burglaries in the EU, with double the number of offences than recorded in Germany and France.
I thought WE were the savages over here in The Colonies . . . of course in all fairness the way they crunch numbers at the UN what this could really indicate is that the UK has the most efficient system in the on reporting crimes and keeping police records . . .

Seeing how every country gathers its crime statistics in different ways and with different criteria there is simply no way you can compare one to another. If the UK is the most dangerous place in Europe it is strange that so many want to come and live here.
