. . . and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never care for anything else thereafter.

This is a dangerous man - if by chance you encounter him, be polite, be professional, and above all have a plan to kill him.

I do believe that when I bought a Mini-14 in 1978 it came with a 20 round mag. However, I'm lucky if I can get a group size of less than 6 inches at 100 yards (using a scope) regardless of the ammo I use. Tried lots of reload combinations with little success.

The barrels on the original Mini-14's were shite - same metallurgy as AK barrels. They've since gone to heavier barrels and tighter twists. The modern crop are decent rifles.
ReplyDeleteYeah, if I had only known back then. They (Ruger) must have sold a lot of those Mini-14s back in the early days. I had trained with, and used, the M1 and M14, so the design was a sure sell. Oh well, I can still "annoy" a 12 inch steel plate at 200 yards.

"Dangerous man" alright; several Rule 3 violations in the video. I'll pass on the Rugers as well for the reasons mentioned above re magazines and accuracy. Druther have an M4 or an SKS - or a real rifle like an M1/M14/1903A3...
