If you ever get a song stuck in your head, just start singing this song to yourself. The other song will go away. Then you'll be stuck with this one, however . . . S.L.
Goodbye Joe me gotta go me oh my oh
Me gotta go pole the pirogue down the bayou
My Yvonne the sweetest one me oh my oh
Son of a gun we'll have big fun on the bayou
Jambalaya and a crawfish pie and filet gumbo
Cause tonight I'm gonna see my ma cher amio
Pick guitar fill fruit jar and be gay-o
Son of a gun we'll have big fun on the bayou
Thibodaux Fontaineaux the place is buzzin'
Kinfolk come to see Yvonne by the dozen
Dress in style and go hog wild me oh my oh
Son of a gun we'll have big fun on the bayou
Settle down far from town get me a pirogue
And I'll catch all the fish in the bayou
Jambalaya and a crawfish pie...
Later on, swap my mon, get me a pirogue
and I'll catch all the fish on the bayou
Swap my mon, to buy Yvonne what she need-oh
Son of a gun we'll have big fun on the bayou
Jambalaya, a-crawfish pie and-a filet gumbo
Cause tonight Im gonna see my ma cher a mio
Pick guitar, fill fruit jar and be gay-oh
Son of a gun, well have big fun on the bayou.
Love the post...one minor note, it's file (fee-lay), not filet! :)
ReplyDelete"Filet" is correctly pronounced "fee-lay" - it is a French word in the English lexicon . . . Cajun is a French dialect . . . Je le sais parce que je parle les deux langues . . .
DeleteLove me some hank williams sr!
ReplyDeleteAs opposed to "fillet"...
ReplyDeleteNo argument about the cajun history...i'm just looking at my jar of Zatarain's Gumbo File'.
