All you can do is degrade and embarrass them. No one will run a law up the flagpole to do more about it. You get in more trouble (as in this video) to confront it, than to just heckle them into shame. All I can say is, thank God few impersonate the Marines - I am nearly 60, and was 3rd Marines through 2 tough tours. I've only encountered one 'faker' in a bar, who actually saw my eagle-globe-and-anchor tattoo, and came up claiming to be 'a brother' after '91. When he couldn't tell me what his MOS was, or what an 03 was, or even what unit or MEB he was with, I shredded him in front of 10 at the bar, and he left pretty quick. It paid off, with a free pitcher of beer.
I am an LEO and it is illegal to put on a police uniform and walk around like your the police. I am not really sure why it is freedom of speech for someone to dress up as member of the military and it is illegal to impersonate a LEO. I guess there are smarter people than me up at the capitol. If I had it my way both would be illegal as long as the uniform was just not camos but had the branch and unit patches displayed.

ReplyDeleteSo I wonder if the cop thinks that it's OK for someone to wear HIS uniform as long as that person is not "benefitting?

The Veteran was arrested for disturbing the peace and assault by the campus police. No other charges filed.
