SCRATCH ONE TANGO

OSAMA BIN LADEN DIES OF NATURAL CAUSES FOLLOWING 5.56mm ROUNDS TO THE HEAD

Americans go hogwild in wanton celebration, while ivory towered academics, elitists and pseudo-intellectuals choke on their lattes.

That's right Intelligentsia - it's a real world out there, full of evil people who only want to do you harm, and Osama bin Laden was their poster child. Even your darling Community-Organizer-in-Chief with his weirdo Muslim name could not hold back the forces of freedom.

Details continue to emerge about the operation - a classic raid incorporating the principles of speed, shock, surprise and violence of action.

Bin Laden was shot in the head, officials said, after he and his bodyguards resisted the assault.

Three adult males were also killed in the raid, including one of bin Laden's sons, whom officials did not name (one of bin Laden's sons, Hamza, is a senior member of al-Qaida). A woman was killed when she was used as a shield by a male combatant, in keeping with cowardly terrorist modus operandii.

AN AMERICAN VICTORY IN THE GLOBAL WAR ON TERROR

Witness the celebrations in city squares, ballparks across America; at Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the Whitehouse, and at Ground Zero:

Crowds at Ground Zero in New York City in the early hours today, shortly after President Obama announced that Osama bin Laden was killed by U.S. Special Operations Forces in Pakistan

Americans waved flags and sang the Star Spangled Banner, while others chanted 'USA! USA!' and 'Na-Na-Na-Na - Na-Na-Na-Na . . . Hey, hey, goodbye . . . '

This is what Americans want - following decades of death and destruction visited upon us by al Qaeda - the monster Osama bin Laden killed in direct, personal combat by American warriors.

Americans don't want NASA transformed into a 'Muslim Outreach Program' - EFF THAT - we want to be told that Osama was tracked to his lair by NASA space-based assets so we could "smoke him out of his hole" and ventilate his skull.

Proud to be an American: the scene at Times Square early today, with many American flags waving in celebration

MESSAGE TO FREEDOM's ENEMIES:

We will get you.

You have attacked us where we were weakest, most vulnerable; 9/11, and before that the embassies in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Nairobi, Kenya. Early frustrations in our operations against you in Tora Bora - some of the hardest terrain on Earth - gave way to the liberation the countries that harbored your evil forces. We have killed and captured the top terrorist leadership - those of you we captured alive sit rotting in Guantanamo - and now the charismatic spiritual leader of your sick, twisted ideology is dead and his body tossed over the side of an American aircraft carrier. Osama bin Laden is fish food at the bottom of the sea - YEAH ! ! !

You can run, but you can't hide. We will get you in the end - we always do, and we always will.

And with our allies - the great UK/AUS/CAN/NZ Commonwealth; NATO, and the rest of the Free World - we will continue track you down, find you, fight you and kill you; one by one for now until the end of time if need be until your Evil is expunged from the face of the Earth.

We will never surrender to terror.

"Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning . . ."

- Winston Churchill, after the first Allied victory against the Axis at El Alamein, 4 Nov 1942.

THE ARMED CITIZEN

While returning to their car after visiting a cemetery, an 82-year-old man and his 76-year-old wife were accosted by a man wearing a mask. The suspect drew an illegally possessed gun and ordered the couple to the ground. But his elderly targets were no easy victims. The husband, who has a concealed-carry permit, drew a .22-cal. revolver from his pocket. The suspect took cover behind a pine tree and both men opened fire. The husband's shots forced the suspect to retreat from the area. Police arrested the suspect and an alleged accomplice, aided by a witness who described the getaway car as white with an "abnormally loud muffler." - Chronicle Independent, Camden, SC, 12/17/10

A UNIQUE HOMECOMING

It's not news - not anymore at least - but it is a fascinating story nonetheless - I found it on the THE BRONZE BLOG featured over there to the right as the BLOGSITE OF THE NANOSECOND - S.L.

DANANG, Vietnam - Saturday, November 7, 2009 - On the day his side lost the Vietnam War, Hung Ba Le fled his homeland at the age of 5 in a fishing trawler crammed with 400 refugees.

That was the day Le and his family embarked on an uncertain journey in a fishing boat piloted by Le's father, who was a commander in the South Vietnamese navy. They were rescued at sea by the USS Barbour County, taken to a U.S. base in the Philippines, a refugee camp in California and finally to northern Virginia, where they rebuilt their lives

Thirty-four years later, he made an unlikely homecoming – as the commander of a U.S. Navy destroyer.

Le piloted the USS Lassen on Saturday into Danang, home of China Beach where U.S. troops frequently headed for R&R during the war, which ended on April 30, 1975, when the southern city of Saigon was taken by Communist troops from North Vietnam.

"I thought that one day I would return but I really didn't expect to be returning as the commander of a Navy warship," Le said after stepping ashore Saturday. "It's an incredible personal honor."

"I'm proud to be an American, but I'm also very proud of my Vietnamese heritage," said Le, who spoke a few halting words in Vietnamese.

And so you should be. You should always love your native land - even if you are an immigrant in a new land. This is a concept I personally know something about. Love of Country is Patriotism - a noble sentiment - this should not be confused, however, with loyalty to the country to which you swear allegiance, nor with like or dislike of the political organization that happens to be running your country. - S.L.

PATRIOTISM = EXTREMISM

This is the same theme the so-called "moderate Conservatives" harp on about the Tea Partiers - S.L.

Is Patriotism Dangerous? Publicly Funded NPR Wants You To Think So

Reprinted from:

Posted by Warner Todd Huston Mar 18th 2010

Public supported National Public Radio (NPR) posted a report on March 17 during its “All Things Considered” radio show that warns its listeners that “patriot groups” are dangerous and are apparently increasingly prone to attacking government officials and facilities. Oddly the two examples it uses to prove its case have no ties whatsoever to any “patriot groups.”

Headlined, “Hostility Against Federal Workers Troubles Officials,” NPR blames “patriot groups” on these attacks and worries that “anti-government hate groups” are on the “upsurge.” And what does NPR use to prove its case? Nothing but the say-so the left-wing Southern Poverty Law Center and a misconstruction of two recent attacks on government facilities by disturbed individuals.

NPR ominously begins its report with this:

"Three attacks on U.S. government employees this year, along with an upsurge in anti-government hate groups, have officials in Washington concerned about the safety of federal workers."

The piece goes on to report that this sort of violence is a “troubling trend” and lays it all at the feet of “patriot and militia groups.”

NPR then tries to prove its case by discussing the two most recent sensational attackers on government facilities; Joe Stack and John Patrick Bedell.

Joe Stack, a disturbed man who crashed his small plane into an IRS building in Austin, Texas back in February, was not known to have any ties to any tea party group, any “patriot” group, or other right-wing groups. His manifesto reads like a confused communist rant with hate for the U.S. government and George W. Bush liberally sprinkled throughout. But NPR lumps this nut in with the right with claims that they are all dangerous to government officials and facilities.

NPR similarly uses as proof of these dangerous patriots the disturbed actions of John Patrick Bedell who opened fire on officers near the Pentagon on March 4. Bedell was an anti-war protestor, heavy marijuana user, and exhibited paranoia for which he refused to seek medical help. Bedell also has no known ties to tea party groups, any political organizations, or NPR’s frightening “patriot groups.”

Yet NPR put forth both of these sick-minded men as examples of “patriots” that have become dangerous and unstable. If NPR wasn’t saying so why include them in this report?

Naturally for its “expert” on dangerous patriots NPR turns to Mark Potok, the director of the liberal Southern Poverty Law Center. As always, Potok cites claims of a “huge growth in the so-called patriot movement that includes militias out there.” Not that NPR offers any actual proof other than Potok’s say so, of course.

We’ve seen in particular a huge growth in the so-called patriot movement that includes militias out there,” Potok says. “And I think that some of the violence that we’ve seen, such as the Pentagon shooter and the IRS, are at least in some way a reflection of that rage.

Potok says there are now more than 500 patriot and militia groups active in the U.S., more than triple the number in 2008.

Again, NPR trots out Potok to warn of those evil right-wing patriots and tries to back his claims up with two crazy people that have no ties at all to those same right-wing patriot groups that are being blamed for this “upsurge” in violence.
What NPR doesn’t tell you is the sort of people that work with the SPLC. Chip Berlet, for instance, is one of those people.

Berlet has all sorts of extremist, left-wing associates (like anti-American billionaire financier George Soros) and is a member of other far left organizations such as the Socialist Workers Party. Here is an entry on Berlet in discoverthenetwork.org nestled in a page about the left-wing Tides Foundation:

Berlet is a senior analyst for Political Research Associates, and has had affiliations with the American Civil Liberties Union, the American Friends Service Committee, the Christic Institute, the Socialist Workers Party, the National Lawyers Guild, and the Southern Poverty Law Center.

To show how unbiased SLPC’s Chip Berlet is, he once wrote that, “right-wing foundations and think tanks support efforts to make bigoted and discredited ideas respectable.”

Not too biased there, eh?

Discoverthenetworks.org also has a page on the SPLC itself.

So, for its expert on those monstrous patriot groups, NPR turns to a group that has ties to the Socialist Workers Party, George Soros, and the anti-Christian ACLU and then expects us to think such an organization should be accepted as an unbiased news source! Apparently NPR does expect us all to accept as gospel its left-biased report on how dangerous those “patriots” are, but I hope America is more skeptical than that.

Remember folks, YOUR tax dollars support NPR.

THE FLAG-DRAPED COFFIN

The Old Guard transports the flag-draped casket of the second Sergeant Major of the Army George W. Dunaway who was buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery.

A United States flag drapes the casket of deceased veterans to honor the memory of their service to America. This custom began during the Napoleonic Wars (1796-1815). The flag is placed so that the blue field with stars is at the head and over the left shoulder of the deceased.

Veterans Affairs has a policy that allows for a full military funeral, which includes the playing of taps and the folding of the flag in respectful silence.
After Taps has been played, the flag is carefully folded into the symbolic tri-cornered shape. Upon request, family can have the honor guard read special recitations, which include religious symbolism.

As the honor guard makes the 13 folds — traditionally representing the original colonies — they recite "the first fold of our flag is a symbol of life, the second fold is a symbol of our belief in the eternal life, etc."

The 1st fold of the flag is a "Symbol of life."

The 2nd fold is a symbol of the belief in "Eternal Life."

The 3rd fold is made in honor and remembrance of the veterans departing the ranks who gave a portion of their lives for the defense of the country to attain peace throughout the world.

The 4th fold represents the weaker nature, for as American citizens trusting in God, it is to Him we turn in times of peace as well as in time of war for His Divine Guidance.

The 5th fold is a tribute to the country, for in the words of Stephen Decatur, “Our Country, in dealing with other countries, may she always be right; but it is still our country, right or wrong.”

The 6th fold is for where people’s hearts lie. It is with their heart that they ". . . pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States Of America, and the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all."

The 7th fold is a tribute to its Armed Forces, for it is through the Armed Forces that they protect their country and their flag against all her enemies, whether they be found within or without the boundaries of their republic.

The 8th fold is a tribute to the one who entered into the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day.

The 9th fold is a tribute to womanhood, and Mothers. For it has been through their faith, their love, loyalty and devotion that the character of the men and women who have made this country great has been molded.

The 10th fold is a tribute to the father, for he, too, has given his sons and daughters for the defense of their country since they were first born.

The 11th fold represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon and glorifies in the Hebrews eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

The 12th fold represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in Christians' eyes: God the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit.

The 13th fold, or when the flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost reminding them of their nations motto, “In God We Trust.”

After the flag is completely folded and tucked in, it takes on the appearance of a cocked hat, ever reminding us of the soldiers who served under General George Washington, and the Sailors and Marines who served under Captain John Paul Jones, who were followed by their comrades and shipmates in the Armed Forces of the United States, preserving for them the rights, privileges and freedoms they enjoy today.

Military traditions and ways of doing things have deep meaning. In the future, whenever you see flags folded; now you will know why.

All Americans should know that Our Founding Fathers established this nation upon Judeo-Christian principles; on the premise " . . .that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights . . ."

Note:The following story from Fox News provided reference material in my research of the above information. I have participated in several military funerals, but only ever once recall such a recital, with the religious significance of each fold. This 13-fold recital is not part of the U.S. Flag Code and is not government-approved. - S.L.

SITREP

Readers send me all kinds of stuff to post. I love it, and I intend to post it - the stuff keeps piling up, and my time is limited, so don't be disappointed if you don't see your stuff right away.

This week was incredibly busy; I pulled more than 80 hours, and I don't get paid by the hour. The blog posts suffered, of course; hey, what can I say? Gotta pay the bills.

My good friend Mark the Shark sent me these World War II posters, and I thank him. Those of you who are regular readers know that I immigrated to this great country; I didn't even become an American citizen until I'd been in the US Army for three years and already had a couple deployments under my belt. I live my life to embody to this kind of thinking, I get a lump in my throat when I see this material. I like thinking: PATRIOTISM, it is the AMERICAN way! I am glad to see that somebody saved them. Enjoy . . .

More on Ospreys . . .

summer patriot, winter soldier is the latest member of STORMBRINGER's INNER SANCTUM. He writes:

friends:

if you are a bit of a bug on the marines, and some of the very singular aviation equipment of the marines, e.g., the harrier, the osprey, then you will really enjoy the article "v-22 osprey" at stormbringer blog.

lots & lots of very interesting articles there. a good person to have on one's 6, this sean linnane.

this is a fine blog.

john jay @ 08.01.2009

p.s. in my little corner of the world, we have a lot of the osprey, a rather small knit fish eagle. they specialize in aerial dives into the water, talons first, wings bent back at the most improbable angle, in order to penetrate the water. a "kerplunk," (nothing especially graceful about it), a little wait, and they emerge from the water in a flurry of spray and wings, and then they fly off with a fair sized fish grasped quite securely in their talons: never have seen one drop a fish. i have seen the dive sequence 5 or 6 times, successfully done.

they have a wonderful whistle, quite different than the squawk of most eagles. (the bald might have been called the raucous eagle.) they are usually seen in mating pairs, the female slightly larger. the pairs will fight for territory against other pairs, the most dominant birds soaring to quite a distance over the weaker ones, and into the sun. the lesser birds usually fly away, not wanting to be subject to those talons diving silently from above, behind, and out of the sun.

classic fight pilot stuff, that.

Sean Linnane says: I did a couple of tours in the Multinational Force & Observers, Sinai; there were a pair of these magnificent birds at Herb's Beach . . . just a grenade toss from Sharm El Sheik:

Back in the eighties the beach was run by Herb, who came on the first rotation to the Sinai in 1982 and never left. He was one of the original Special Forces. Killed captors and escaped in Korea, killed captors and escaped in Vietnam. He was my mentor. He used to show us stuff like how to press 10-penny nails into a 4X4 with the palm of his hand. They named this unique beach and the gym after him.
