DISGRACEFUL
Nov 8, 2010 York County, Pennsylvania
Vandals targeted an Iraq War Veteran in West York sometime early Monday morning:
An Iraq War Veteran and recipient of two Purple Hearts awakened to find his SUV damaged by vandals.
Police say, Anthony Gurreri, a former Lance Corporal with the United States Marine Corps, found his SUV damaged in his driveway along N. Clinton Street. The 2003 GMC Yukon had a smashed back window, all 4 tires were slashed, both headlamp lenses were broken, and the front windshield wipers and wiper arms were torn from the mounts.
The statement, "Go Back to Iraq and Kill More Women and Kids," was spray painted on the hood of the vehicle. The vandals also etched the words "Muder" (murder spelled incorrectly) and "Killer" into the driver and passenger side doors.
Investigators ask anyone with information about this crime to contact the West York Borough Police at 717-854-1975.

ARMY: IGNORE OBAMA's MESSAGE, OF COURSE COMBAT CONTINUES IN IRAQ
This message provides clarification on the awarding of wartime awards and badges for Operation New Dawn (OND). Effective 1 Sep 10, OND began signifying an end to combat operations in Iraq. However, combat conditions are still prevalent. Due to the nature of combat conditions, wartime awards will continue to be issued in theater until a date to be determined. Commanders will continue to process retroactive award recommendation through their peacetime chain of command to . . ."Read the original Foreign Policy post HERE

VETERANS HAVING THEIR GUNS CONFISCATED

If this story about the VA and Homeland Security denying veterans concealed handgun permits is true, it is very disturbing:
From a Vietnam Vet and retired Police Officer:
I had a Doctor’s appointment at the local VA clinic yesterday and found out something very interesting that I would like to pass along. While going through triage before seeing the doctor, I was asked at the end of the exam, three questions:
1. Did I feel stressed?
2. Did I feel threatened?
3. Did I feel like doing harm to someone?
The nurse then informed me, that if I had answered ‘yes’ to any of the questions, I would have lost my concealed carry permit as it would have gone into my medical records and the VA would have reported it to Homeland Security.
Another vet reports: "Last month, at my VA med visit, they asked me exactly the same questions and I asked them why they never asked them before and their answer was that it is a new policy that they must ask all vets!"
So far this could be dismissed as the rumor mill; but it gets more real than that:
Sgt. Wayne Irelan re-enlisted in the Army National Guard after September 11th.
He was severely injured in Iraq and awarded the Purple Heart. But now his second amendment rights have been taken away.
“I really feel betrayed,” Sgt. Irelan told 5NEWS.
A year ago the Irelan’s began receiving a small stipend from Veterans Affairs because Lana had to take over the family’s finances.
“How many husbands do you know in America that pay the bills? There’s not very many,” Lana Irelan told 5NEWS.
The V.A. declared Wayne Irelan incompetent and now his right to own a gun is gone.
“It’s wrong. Laws need to be changed. They need to look at individuals and not stereotype them as some sort of mad man,” Sgt. Irelan said.
Irelan has post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from the Iraq war, but his wife says he has never been violent. Lana Irelan told 5NEWS his diagnosis is not a legitimate reason for his gun rights to be taken away.
“I was there when they gave him his purple heart for fighting for that right to bear arms, and they are stripping it away,” Lana said, her eyes tearing up.
The couple didn’t know Wayne’s gun rights had been terminated until they went to get a gun out of pawn. Days later Wayne got a letter from the Arkansas State Police saying his concealed carry permit had been revoked. The ATF has told the Irelans that they could go to jail if a firearm is found in their home. . . .
One more horror story of how the Government will take care of you . . . I've got a couple Government Medicine horror stories of my own . . . let me tell you about it sometime . . . SEAN LINNANE SENDS

MARINE WAR DOG HERO
A Marine Corps Military Working Dog recently passed away; please review this touching tribute to a true canine hero:
MWD Flapoor was one of our great military working dogs who was on the front lines with our Marines during Operation Iraqi Freedom. His handler, Marine LCpl Brown, made this tribute video so we can all remember one of our beloved K9 heroes.
MWD Flapoor did two tours in Iraq. During his first tour, in 2005-2006, MWD Flapoor and his handler at the time, Cpl Poelart, were providing security at an Iraqi police recruitment center in Ar Ramadi when a suicide bomber blew himself up outside the building. The bomb killed dozens of Iraqis wanting to become police and wounded dozens more.
The bomb set a precedent in that the first military working dog handler, Sgt Adam Cann, was killed in action during Operation Iraqi Freedom. MWD Flapoor and his handler were both wounded and awarded the Purple Heart. Cpl Poelart was eventually honorably discharged while MWD Flapoor recovered from his wounds and went back for a second successful tour in Iraq. Thank you for making this tribute LCpl Brown so we can all remember this amazing dog for his sacrifice and service to our country.
