Roberta Flack
I have always loved this song . . . in some of the hardest moments of my life, I have flashed on this song and it allows me to become instantly calm . . . S.L.
This song was written in 1957 by Ewan MacColl for his wife, Peggy Sue. Clint Eastwood featured Roberta Flack singing her version in his film 'Play Misty For Me'; it topped the Billboard 100 in 1972 - retaining the top spot for six weeks, winning the Grammy Award for 'Song of the Year' three years later. A well deserved award.
