I'm much too young to remember that, but I do remember all the phantoms at Miramar in years gone by. At least I still get to see 'em at Nellis for now. Great pic!
I can remember back in '76, sitting on guard duty, spangdahlem airbase Germany.( A battery 6/56 ADA) Watching these birds take off at night was an amazing sight. and that was before they kicked the afterburners in....
Totally remember the F4s @ Clark. They rattled our base housing windows when they took off. Sadly, I had to do an after action on an accident there w/one of the F4s - pilot/co-pilot ejected into the ground after take off. They were tough birds though! Took off with that roar!
Anonymous @ 5:1PM, I was there at the same time. Was standing outside my shop @ end of flightline, smoking. Looked up, had an "oh, shit" moment and ran inside. 1984-1990. Left right before Pinatubo blew.
Wow, I saw that picture on Theo Spark's and thought, "That kind of looks like Clark." Sure enough, it is. Great memories from 88-90, left a few months before Pinatubo erupted, too. 1961st CG, HF Receiver Site. Camp John Hay and Baguio were the best, though.
You love a lot of things if you live around them, but there isn't any woman and there isn't any horse, nor any before nor any after, that is as lovely as a great airplane, and men who love them are faithful to them even though they leave them for others. A man has only one virginity to lose in fighters, and if it is a lovely plane he loses it to, there his heart will ever be.

Two great birds are both F4's.
