I don't see how it can be called a "Failed" program. They never set up a method to track any guns and had no plans to stop them any where after sale, so the obvious "plan" was to have the current outcome.
ReplyDeleteJP, you're right about that. they needed a crisis to promote anti-gun legislation and to provide an excuse for cracking down on border area gun shops. the BATs set up straw purchase sting operations (to catch all the Mexican bad guys y'unnerstand) and when things went wrong they bagged the dealers who were acting in good faith. Threw them under the bus to save their own sorry asses.
