GREAT PHOTOS

I miss a president who loved this country and its military . . . this came over the Email Machine, one of those 'That was then, this is now' reflections . . . S.L.

(THE LESSON NOW BEGINS)

1. If a hug is needed, don't be shy!

No one appreciates a firm handshake more than a soldier.

2. If they prefer not to shake hands . . .

. . . then a chest bump will do.

Just make sure you do a duck face afterward so they can laugh at you.

3. Admire their medals. They were hard-earned.

4. Always treat their families with great respect.

They have been through more than you could imagine.

5. Laugh with them!

Laughter is a medicine that works 102% of the time.

6. Its important that you treat a soldier the way you would treat your own family.

7. If you know a soldier, call them on the 4th of July.

It will make their day!

8. Or you can Skype them.

9. Each soldier has an amazing story.

10. Listen.

Listening is often the best gift you can give someone.

11. Give them a hug!

Soldiers love getting hugged because most of them are big softies deep down.

12. Do a sport with them.

Soldiers love being active.

President Bush golfs with wounded veterans at the Warrior Open tournament.

13. Make sure you are respectful.

14. Serve them a big dinner if you can. Lots of meat.

15. But if you only have a minute, look them square in the eye . . .

. . . and say, "Thank you."

We promise you they will appreciate it.

God Bless America!

Very heartwarming . . .

Somehow, I can't imagine the current Occupier of the Oval Office doing anything like this!!!

  3. Hey Sean;

"W" had a lot of faults, and there was a lot of things that he did that I didn't agree with, but he did care for America(unlike the current occupier), and he did give a damn about the GI's. unlike the present occupier of 1600 Pennsylvania ave who uses them for a photo op besides all the selfies. I remembered the same kind of thing back when Clinton was President, George H.W. cared a lot whereas Clinton's white house had disdain for them.

    1. We ALL have a lot of faults, but most of us don't have the faults of "44" - or the ability to do as much damage to the country as "44."

  4. I pray America gets a new President that loves his Country and his military and repairs the damage Obama has done.

  6. Shame on Obama, it is small things like that that reveal his true nature.

  7. Indeed, this series of staged photo opps appeals to all of us who can't differentiate between propaganda and fact. Bush lied us into the Iraq invasion then laughed about it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKX6luiMINQ), cut VA's budget to the point that the toilets at Walter Reed wouldn't flush and roaches and rats ran rampant (http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/washington/2007-03-05-walter-reed-hearings_N.htm), cut combat pay for soldiers (http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Troops-in-Iraq-face-pay-cut-Pentagon-says-tough-2561448.php) because that extra pay was "a budget buster". But massive tax cuts for the top 1% - well, that had nothing to do with it, right? And waiting time for veteran's disability claims processing has been cut almost in half: http://usgovinfo.about.com/b/2014/04/10/va-says-it-has-cut-claims-backlog-44-percent.htm over the last several years. Perhaps the Obama administration doesn't want to spend time playacting, and do something useful for the soldiers for a change.

    1. And please let us not forget how many of those soldiers who were in the hospitals Bush visited or who had lost their legs or were wounded lost their limbs or were wounded in the Iraqi war brought to us by the same dear President Bush - Anyone else want a trade their leg for a hug?
