JAMES GARNER - April 7, 1928 – July 19, 2014

Today we honor actor James Garner – a Korean War veteran who received two Purple Hearts – who died Saturday night at 86. An infantry soldier before he made it big in movies and television, Garner took a USO tour to Vietnam in 1967. He will be missed.

Maverick has gone to that Big Riverboat Casino in the Sky . . .

  1. He was the best of the best out of hollywood. Always liked him. Heltau

  2. SOB- some times the good die young. Green fields, and soft ground.

  3. The above picture is one that the MSM will not show or make mention of his military service. I didn't know he was a vet. One of old breed and now gone. Damn.

  4. By all accounts he was a fine man who didn't put up with any shit. And an underrated actor.

I met him in Vietnam in '67. He was on a handshake tour to smaller posts in the Mekong Delta. He was a true gentleman who showed more interest in asking us questions about ourslves than in promoting himself. He was a soldier.
