POST-MODERN SCAVENGERS

To: STORMBRINGER

From: Dan O'Connell

I thought you could use this mate as part of your safety training on why you don’t mess with electricity. Not sure where these were taken. Most likely Europe or Africa based on the insulators.

Interesting to note there's no evidence that the eyes pop out and explode, as suggested in those "Faces of Death" movies . . .

They are Crispy Critters!

  3. Is this what we've come to? Joking about the horrible deaths of others?

  4. No, we have come to the point of making fun of those who awarded themselves darwin awards.

  5. My guess of what happened; Looks like a high voltage feed which would go underground to some building after coming off of the overhead non-insulated high voltage lines.

I would say these two crispy critters thought that the large cable attached to the pole was just a thick phone cable and at night they were stealing it for the copper. Notice the large cable cutter laying on the ground.

I bet they both were surprised when they cut into the cable, at least for about a half second, maybe less.

It was a combination of the high voltage, several thousand volts and the high current that cooked their plan!

There is no reason to feel any pity or sorrow as these morons received justice and I think it is really very funny!

    1. You're a disgusting human being if you think death by electrocution is fitting justice for stealing copper.

  6. After taking another look I'll add this. Notice that the wires at the insulators are cut, all three (3 phase pwr). Normally the non-insulated lines go through the insulators into the cable and then underground to a building. In the pictures all three are cut so I would say that the underground part had the power on them and then after bypassing some area underground the lines went back to overhead.

The rope on the ground sugguests that these morons climbed up, cut all three, dropped the cable to the ground and then received justice as they picked up what they thought was a dead cable.

  8. As the late Kenneth Williams put it
    "Frying Tonight!"
Whilst any death is a tragedy, if they had chosen to work for a living rather than thieve, they would not be in this postion.

  9. A needless death is still, regardless of its reasons, not a laughing matter.I pity them and the circumstances that drove them to this and the price that not only they had to pay but their families.
