BOOMERS & BULLSH*T: WE BID FAREWELL

The latest of a disturbing series of emails from the great Texas gunsmith and friend of this site, Tom of Boomers and Bullshit, announcing his departure from the blogosphere.

I say disturbing because I do not like to see anyone pack it in on any enterprise or undertaking. Tom has contributed much to STORMBRINGER - but the blog venue obviously isn't working for him, perhaps he will continue to contribute in another vein.

Best wishes to you Tom, in anything and everything you do, as you move forward . . . - S.L.

THE END OF AN EXPERIMENT THAT FAILED

Seems a good note to go out on.

I still will have things to contribute to my regular haunts, once in a while, ain't dead, but I'd rather work on this stuff I'm getting PAID FOR than moderate comments from people who think I don't know how some particular guns work when I have Browning's entire evolution of plan drawings for the firearm in question, as a friend of mine, he deals in blueprints and it's a firearm I own multiple copies of.

Thought about it all day and this is where it shall end. Shame in a way, but I don't like working to get insulted for free.

If I wanted to do that every day, I'd still moonlight playing guitar and doing sound. Everybody knows a "better" guitarist just like everybody knows a "better" internet historian...Nobody liked Churchill except when they needed him, either, aye? So Winston went back to doing things he liked to do and writing some REALLY GOOD BOOKS instead of trying to swim upstream.

No need for anybody to link me anymore unless it's for nostalgia.

I have BRENs and Martini-Henry rifles to fiddle with instead of moderating insults from people who tell me I don't own them when they are hanging on the wall ;-)

People who aren't idiots that have technical questions most likely know where to find me, OR, KNOW HOW TO READ A BOOK or THREE...

CINCO de MAYO AMERICAN FLAG INCIDENT

On Wednesday, a Mexican flag meant to celebrate Cinco de Mayo went missing from Klein Collins High School in Spring. Administrators later learned a student tore it down and threw it in the trash . . . sophomore Nick Morris went on a local conservative talk radio show to complain he had been suspended.

This kid is GREAT - he cut down the Mexican flag 'cause it was hanging higher than any American flag inside his High School - and then HE TOSSED IT IN THE GARBAGE ! ! ! His school suspended him for 3 days (if he had tossed out an American flag they probably would've renamed the school after him).

United States Code, Title 4, Chapter 1 pertains to the Flag of the United States; Title 18, Chapter 33, Section 700 regards criminal penalties for flag desecration; Title 36, Chapter 3 pertains to patriotic customs and observances. These laws are supplemented by Executive Orders and Presidential Proclamations:

"No other flag or pennant should be placed above or, if on the same level, to the right of the flag of the United States of America . . ."

Here is the winner for best comment:

“Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican army’s unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, and is a symbol of Mexican pride, unity and patriotism.”

So the Mexicans beat the French. But everyone beats the French. I mean, like I could beat the French if they attacked me. I mean, if that is your most major holiday…
(Okay, so the French helped us win the revolutionary war against the British… I think we paid them back enough in WWI and II.

Regardless, the Mexican flag should never be allowed to fly in our schools. And what pride could the Mexicans have nowadays anyway? Their nation is impoverished, it’s on lockdown and it’s citizens are fleeing to the USA. Sounds like a real source of pride to me.

(Quote from a website sent in by a reader - can't find the original link - work with me here, people? - S.L.)

On February 24, 1836, during Santa Anna’s siege of the Alamo, Travis wrote a letter addressed to the people of Texas and all Americans in the World:

Fellow Citizens and Compatriots;

I am besieged, by a thousand or more of the Mexicans under Santa Anna. I have sustained a continual Bombardment and cannonade for 24 hours and have not lost a man. The enemy has demanded a surrender at discretion, otherwise, the garrison are to be put to the sword, if the fort is taken. I have answered the demand with a cannon shot, and our flag still waves proudly from the walls. I shall never surrender or retreat. Then,I call on you in the name of Liberty, of patriotism & everything dear to the American character, to come to our aid, with all dispatch. The enemy is receiving reinforcements daily and will no doubt increase to three or four thousand in four or five days. If this call is neglected, I am determined to sustain myself as long as possible and die like a soldier who never forgets what is due to his own honor & that of his country.

Victory or Death,

William Barret Travis
Lt. Col. Comdt.

P.S. The Lord is on our side. When the enemy appeared in sight we had not three bushels of corn. We have since found in deserted houses 80 or 90 bushels and got into the walls 20 or 30 head of Beeves (sic). - Travis

Let's keep an eye out for this young man - true patriotism is a rare thing these days; I predict great things for this Nick Morris.

MORNING ROUNDUP

Texas Governor Rick Perry Shoots Coyote That Threatened His Dog

Canis latrans - Not normally a threat to humans, they do go after small pets. In some areas coyotes have begun to act aggressively toward humans, chasing joggers and bicyclists, confronting people walking their dogs, and stalking small children.

" . . . Perry carries a .380 Ruger with hollow point bullets when jogging, as the area is known for coyotes harassing dogs and cats in the area and sometimes people. He primarily carries the pistol because he is afraid of snakes."

The next time I pack heat when I'm out on a long-distance run through the woods won't be the first time - for jogging I carry a lightweight frame Charter Arms five-round snub-nosed revolver loaded with ratshot for the snakes interspersed with hollowpoints for the big, two legged snakes. - S.L.

Anybody know where I can get a good deal on one of these babies?

A 70-seat Tsunami?

Will it make a difference? Can they undo the mess the Dems got us into . . . or is it too late? - S.L.

EARLY VOTING STARTS TOMORROW

From Texas Division, Team Stormbringer:

Rick Green Makes the April 13 Runoff

He is accused of hitting a political opponent in the nose, although charges were dropped, many years ago. The demontwat pr*ck insulted his wife and children in front of him (source provides evidence - S.L.) and he was acquited of all charges. This assault and battery thing is off the record but the Demonprats are trying to hammer him on that old dogsh*t.

He's a good guy and the sort of people needed to push a Texas Firearms Freedom Act through.

Taking back America one post at a time . . . we can't lose until we quit fighting the bastards!
