DO YOU KNOW HOW TO CATCH WILD PIGS?

The following is reprinted as a special request - originally part of a larger post ARE WE THERE YET? - feel free to copy & paste and distribute far & wide - S.L.

You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come every day to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming.

At first the wild pigs will look at the fence with suspicion and distrust, but eventually their hungry bellies and the sight of the free corn will overcome their natural instincts. The wild pigs will begin to eat the corn again and soon they will get used to the fence

When this happens you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again.

You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat.

When the time is right, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd. Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught.

Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, and so they accept their captivity.

This is exactly what I see happening to America. The Federal Government keeps pushing us toward Socialism, keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, disability, Obamacare, etc. We continue to lose our freedoms - just a little at a time.

  1. The story is all too true.

The kink in that hose is that some of the pigs have learned how to use wirecutters and firearms.

When it comes time to make bacon and ham for the smokehouse, whose hock is getting slabbed is going to be quite an interesting conversation.

    1. I fear a civil war but I don't know along what lines geographically they are going to be drawn unless its red vs. blue and the reds generally have the resources and land and blue have the dependent populations and crime (Ugh, I live in a blue - actually only three or four counties are blue - the rest is flaming red - I live in the most liberal AND conservative state). Hope it doesn't come to that. I blame the media though.

  2. I shudder when I hear those words of revolt. The folks that verbalize those words, I think, are planning on the "help" of other folks their age and disposition.
I'm afraid that "we" won't get the support that is sorely needed for a complete vermin eradication.
Last week I had a discussion with a baby boomer; the discussion didn't go well. He was of the opinion that Obama and his lackeys haven't gone far enough! I'm seeing and hearing more and more folks from the baby boomer generation that are espousing this tripe.
I know that my corner of the world, Madison, WI, is infested with that type of person BUT, I think that attitude is in the "water" across the country.
